Speakers from the Anthropology & Sociology department at Creighton University, Native American Program at Creighton University, Maya Heritage Project, The Omaha Community and Pastoral Maya are meeting for the ninth annual Pastoral Maya National Conference. The conference brings community leaders together for organizational building, to train, network and to share in their successes and failures.
The Conference will also conduct workshops on many major issues affecting the Maya community, including domestic violence, alcoholism, health, understanding culture, integration, spirituality and a workshop focused on youth and the specific struggles and issues they face. The keynote speaker is Father David Lopez, of the Catholic Church who will be sharing his experiences from living and working in Guatamala.
